Head Coach & Club Director
After representing Wales at junior level, Nathan Thomas played for clubs across the German and Swedish Leagues. His experience playing abroad under different coaching styles inspired Nathan’s decision to open Wales’ first full-time table tennis centre in the summer of 2012.
Having been a full-time coach for five years, Nathan has coached international players at both junior and senior levels. He has also worked extensively in a coaching capacity with some of the top Para-athletes in the country, and as a player has represented Team GB in several major Para Open competitions.
Coach & Doc Therapi Director
Current Welsh number one and reigning Mens National Champion, Dan is now in his second spell coaching at the club after three years playing professionally on the continent. A UKCC-certified coach with experience at Ael-Y-Bryn TTC as well as Cardiff City, Dan is also a qualified masseur and runs his own Sports Massage Therapy business, Doc Therapi, out of the club.
Dan’s record at the Welsh Championships includes a Junior Boys title, eight Doubles titles and his latest Mens Singles crown. Having already represented Wales at four World Championships, in 2015 Dan reached the final 32 of the Mixed Doubles event in China; the pinnacle of an international career that has also included the 2014 Commonwealth Games and two European Championships. Dan has previously featured for English club Ormesby TTC in the British League before spells representing Athletic Boulogne in France and Madgeburg in the German Oberliga. From September Dan will return to the British Premier Division, this time in the colours of Cardiff City I
Lloyd Gregory has been coaching table tennis since 2009. After gaining a MSc Degree in Performance Coaching from the University of South Wales, in addition to his First Class Honours Undergraduate Degree in Sports Coaching and Performance, Lloyd has added a UKCC Level 2 Coaching Award to his list of qualifications. Lloyd previously spent four years training and studying at Bristol Table Tennis Academy where he attained both a HND and a BTEC National Diploma in Sports & Exercise Science.
In his playing career Lloyd has represented Bristol Academy, Kingfisher, Cardiff City and has also played in the Belgian League. He has previously been ranked among the top 60 English players by the ETTA. Lloyd is also co-founder of online table tennis coaching resource icoachtabletennis.com.
Danielle de Jong
Danielle de Jong has been coaching at Cardiff City TTC since the club opened in 2012. Prior to working in Cardiff
Danielle had gained considerable experience of coaching in her native Holland, including leading a junior side in the National Championships.
Having competed as a player in two World Championships and four European Championships, Danielle is an established Para-athlete in her own right. In between playing at national Opens around the world Danielle represents Cardiff City in the British League in and is now setting her sights on making the Dutch national squad for the Rio Paralympics in 2016.
