Results Round Up – September

September has been a busy month for Cardiff City players competing in many different events. The first weekend of the month saw junior club members Benedict Watson and Jamie-Lee Harley compete in the UK School Games at Loughborough University representing Wales. Both the Boys and the Girls team finished 5th in the competition played against different regions around Britain.

The following weekend the club hosted the Glamorgan Championships. This event had 5 categories including Under 13’s Mixed, Cadet Boys/Girls, Junior Boys/Girls and Open Mixed. Club member Elliot Jones came runner up to Oscar Marriott in the Under 13 Boys. Anna Hursey won the Cadet girls event and Joseph Roberts won the Cadet Boys. The junior boys event was won by club member Cade Short. The open was won by Callum Evans with Dean Cundy coming runner up.

The big international event of the month was the European Championships. Former club coach Dan O’Connell and new club coach Dean Cundy competed in the men’s team event whilst Anna Hursey was the youngest player in the competition in the Women’s event.

The monthly Dragon tournament had a strong entry and the first Dragon Open event was held. The Open event is unrestricted by age or gender and is a great opportunity for the senior players to get some extra match practice. Full results can be seen here: September Dragon Results

A squad of 9 players traveled to Derby to compete in the Junior British League. All the best under 18 players under one roof compete in divisions of 6. The boys A team of Benedict Watson, Cade Short and Martin Johnston finished the weekend with 4 wins and 1 draw seeing them top of division 2b. The B team of Louie Price, Jack O’Duffy and Joe Williams picked up their points from 2 draws finishing the weekend in 5th place in division 2A. The girls team of Jamie-Lee Harley, Grace Clement and Morgan Day-Davies finished their weekend in division 1 with 1 win and 4 loses ending in 5th place also.
