It was only supposed to be a quick recce, but our short visit to the Cardiff City Table Tennis Club epitomised everything that Go Get Involved is all about.
The only place in Wales which is solely dedicated to the sport, Cardiff City Table Tennis really is like no other. Open every day of the week (most days from 10am-10pm) the club offers both coaching sessions and pay as you play sessions. It only opened in June this year and is backed by Sport Wales, so expect top of the range table tennis equipment.
Nathan Thomas (the club’s head coach) explained that the aims of the club were to give EVERYONE and ANYONE the opportunity to have a go at table tennis. By charging a reasonable membership with plenty of benefits and providing quality coaching and friendly staff, people will keep coming back. And they do.
We took some photos and had a chat with a few members including a 71 year-old who was enjoying a rally at the top table. Shirt highly tucked into his tracksuit, he was not only the epitome of ‘class’ but he also demonstrated everything so fascinating about the Table Tennis Club.
We will be visiting again soon.
